Twelve months of care at Cavendish Square

COLUMN - 17TH MARCH 2022

Professor Chris Nutting, consultant clinical oncologist and clinical director of The Royal Marsden Private Care at Cavendish Square, looks back on the new facility’s first year

Since opening in April 2021, The Royal Marsden Private Care diagnostic and treatment facility in Cavendish Square has become an established presence in the Harley Street Medical Area. It offers UK and overseas patients fast and direct access to world-leading cancer experts and research-led care in a calm, modern and reassuring environment.

Within the centre, we offer rapid test turnaround times and access to a full range of cancer services. In the state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging suite, our experts can identify cancers earlier across all main tumour types. Other facilities include a minor procedure suite and a medical day unit with bespoke bays for patients receiving some of the most advanced cancer treatments.

We have seen a high demand for these services and over 1,300 patients from 35 countries have been treated at Cavendish Square during this time, safe in the knowledge that the cutting-edge treatment is underpinned by The Royal Marsden’s world-leading standards of cancer care.

I am delighted that we have also received excellent feedback from patients regarding their experience at the new facility, with 98 per cent rating it as excellent or very good and 100 per cent saying they would recommend the hospital to friends and family.

Similarly, there has been a very positive response from our staff. Following a survey of Cavendish Square consultants, 100 per cent of respondents rated the overall experience of practising at the facility as good or excellent.

Looking to the future, we plan to build on this excellent start and welcome more consultants, grow our clinics, and develop new services to give our patients the very best cancer care.
