Pharmacierge announces major expansion of Wimpole Street dispensary

NEWS - 26TH OCTOBER 2023

Leading e-prescription medtech’s cutting-edge facility set to include central London’s largest dispensing robot

Pharmacierge, the private e-prescription app and delivery service, has announced a major expansion of its Harley Street Medical Area facilities. The addition of an extensive new 5,500 sq ft dispensary will grow its Wimpole Street operation to over 8,000 sq ft, a tenfold increase since the company’s arrival in 2015.

The ambitious transformation of two 18th-century Georgian properties into one streamlined clinical space is already underway. Among the most notable developments is a 9-metre multi-arm dispensing robot, unprecedented in central London, which will occupy one wing of the new premises, with medication chutes spiralling down through the floor to the spacious dispensary beneath.

By marrying cutting-edge technology and robotics with traditional pharmacy values, the project aims to increase the speed and efficiency of the private pharmacy pathway and provide clients with rapid access to the broadest possible pharmacy formulary. In addition to generic and branded medicines, the plans include dedicated sub-divided areas for controlled, refrigerated and biological medications.

Pharmacierge already caters to a network of over 4,500 GP and consultant users, spanning all medical specialties. With the robotic automation and scalability provided by its expanded facilities, the business plans to bring the time and cost-saving benefits of e-prescribing to many more private practitioners, hospitals and private patient units throughout the UK.

Pharmacierge’s co-founders have been rooted in the Harley Street Medical Area for many years, having previously co-founded The Doctor’s Laboratory (TDL), also on Wimpole Street, and other pharmacies. The company’s CEO Edward Ungar said: “While our technology now equally serves clinicians and patients outside of London, we felt very strongly that only a local investment would remain faithful to our brand values, our roots and the private medical community who have supported us through thick and thin.”

Julian Best, executive property director of The Howard de Walden Estate, the landlord for the HSMA, added: “We are delighted Pharmacierge has chosen to expand their operation in the Harley Street Medical Area, bolstering the technology led patient experience for the delivery of prescriptions and ensuring the area continues to offer the highest level of patient service.”
