Harley Street Medical Area hospitals join forces with other major London trusts to provide comprehensive service for international patients

A number of key HSMA hospitals have joined forces to offer a comprehensive private healthcare service to international patients. Under the banner of London Specialist Hospitals, the group will offer patients from around the world access to innovative treatments for cardiology and respiratory conditions, cancer, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, spinal neurosurgery and nerve injuries, and paediatrics.

The partners in the venture are The Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, The Royal Marsden Private Care, Moorfields Private Eye Hospital, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. All are part of NHS trusts, meaning that any surplus from their private care services is reinvested into the NHS for the benefit of all patients.

Collectively, the London Specialist Hospitals are home to world-leading experts in a wide variety of fields. They offer the latest drug treatments, surgical techniques and care, supported by state-of-the-art equipment. Their approach to international patients includes personalised care packages and comprehensive wrap-around support services, including multilingual teams supported by translation services, culturally appropriate menu choices and prayer facilities.

Mark Hawken, managing director of The Royal Marsden Private Care, said: “This partnership is an exciting development for all of the participating hospitals and an opportunity for all of us to bring even more patients the best quality of care available.”

Andrew Robertson, director for private care at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, added: “This collaboration demonstrates the value of NHS private patient units working together to deliver the highest quality healthcare to patients from the UK and internationally, with all the financial surplus generated reinvested into NHS services for the benefit of all patients.
