Fortius Clinic rated ‘Outstanding’ by Care Quality Commission

NEWS - 6TH DECEMBER 2019

Fortius Clinic; a leading private orthopaedic and sports injury clinic located in the Harley Street Medical Area, has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Founded in 2009, Fortius Clinic specialises in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal (MSK) medicine. The clinic operates three outpatient sites across Central London, the Fortius Surgical Centre and a Joint Replacement Centre in partnership with Bupa Cromwell.

Following inspection in October, the centre has been awarded the highest accolade for its services by national regulator CQC, notably praised for its open culture, consistent approach to continuous improvement in all areas and clear vision to deliver high quality care for every patient.

The positive culture within the clinic was singled out for praise, with inspectors noting the warmth and compassion with which consultants treated all patients – including the systems and processes in place to ensure they are treated with dignity and respect as well as involved in decisions about their care and treatment.

Inspectors also commended staff for going above and beyond for their patients, working especially hard to meet holistic needs and make the patient experience as pleasant as possible.

Nicola Aspinall, Chief Operating Officer of Fortius Clinic, commented: “We are delighted to be recognised as outstanding by the CQC. We have consistently focussed on quality and service delivery across the whole organisation to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and this is therefore a very proud moment. We receive compliments on a daily basis from the patients we care for, patient satisfaction surveys and feedback, however when recognition comes from a regulator following inspection and scrutiny, it is very significant.”

Published last month, the CQC inspection report provides a detailed review of care services at Fortius Clinic.

The CQC’s key findings of outstanding practice at the clinic includes a clear governance framework, underpinned by policies and procedures which are understood and followed by staff.

Inspectors also found that staff felt respected, supported and valued, observing a genuinely open and transparent approach to raising concerns and responding to risks; noting that staff were complimentary about the leadership and felt well supported to develop within their roles.

Other areas that received commendation were the clinic’s continuous drive to further improvement with flexibility to redesign service delivery to meet new challenges; the innovative approach, commitment to engage with others and share best practice; and the audit practices embedded to drive quality improvement and patient safety.

Head of Inspection for Primary Medical Services in London, Antony Hall, said: “Fortius Clinic boasts strong dedicated leadership and a staff that is prepared to go the extra mile for their patients. I can only congratulate all involved in helping to get an outstanding CQC rating.”
